Erwan Heussaff

Last April, restaurateur and content creator Erwan Heussaff announced that he's rebranding his YouTube channel to “FEATR.”

The cost of production has become a challenge for a lot of TV networks and even YouTube content creators amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In the Philippines, the total number of COVID-19 infections is now at 1,445,832 as of yesterday, July 6. As numbers continue to increase, the entertainment industry had to double down on their efforts to protect their workers.

One way of doing this is by conducting regular COVID-19 tests--from the affordable Antigen test to the costly RT-PCR test. These tests are necessary to make sure that every single person working in the production is COVID-19 free.

Big companies can handle the cost but for smaller production outfits, It drastically increases the cost of producing a show or a single video content.

This is true for Erwan Heussaff, who is now grappling with the additional cost for his YouTube channel FEATR, which he rebranded in April this year.

In his recent post on Instagram Story, the husband of TV host-actress Anne Curtis gave a glimpse of the cost the channel incurred in just half a month for swab testing alone. They spent P365,000 in just two weeks.

He captioned his post saying, “Half a month of swab tests for production work. Cost of working during COVID."

With this additional expense, Erwan admitted that it was also a contributing factor why he pushed through with the rebranding of his channel and focused on the business side of content creation.

He pointed this out in the rebranding announcement video, "So that's why it's so important for me to double down and really focus and concentrate on the business side of things, and really working with great brands and collaborating with them to create high-quality online content.

"I really want to be able to take the time to select the shows that I host and I'm part of in front of the camera, so I really get to put out really good content. And for us to be able to do that, I need to focus on the business but I also need to focus on producing other shows with other hosts and other people.

The family of Anne Curtis and Erwan recently returned to the Philippines from Australia.

They have been staying there since December 2019 and that is where Anne gave birth to their daughter Dahlia Amelie.
